3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 6/11/18
Patrick Corbin has been stellar this year, but velocity concerns and a matchup with a contact-oriented Pirates lineup make him a bit risky for cash games. Which other players should you be avoiding?

Patrick Corbin, SP, Arizona Diamondbacks

Patrick Corbin has been an absolute revelation for the Arizona Diamondbacks, posting a ridiculous 2.78 SIERA this season. He is pitching like an ace in every facet, as he is getting ground balls, strikeouts, and avoiding walks.

However, his velocity is down significantly over the past seven starts, which is a fairly extended sample. While the decreased velocity hasn't shown itself in the strikeout or walk numbers, Corbin's fly-ball rate of 31.7%, while still good, would be the highest of his career if it holds up for the rest of the season.

He has also allowed a 40.8% hard-hit rate on the year, which also would be the highest of his career. Since the start of May, those numbers have been even worse, as he has surrendered a 35.6% fly-ball rate and 46.7% hard-hit rate after the conclusion of April.

Another concern is that he is facing a Pittsburgh Pirates squad that ranks top-10 in wRC+ (105) against left-handed pitching. This is most notably due to their low strikeout rate against southpaws, which sits at just 19.8%. Only five teams avoid strikeouts against left-handed pitching better than Pittsburgh does, and their contact-oriented ways should cap Corbin's upside, especially with his decreased velocity seemingly leading to harder contact in recent weeks.

Corbin is still in play in GPPs, for sure, but Carlos Carrasco profiles as a much better cash-game play.
