A quick look at Marcell Ozuna's 2018 numbers will show a pretty underwhelming .314 wOBA and .113 isolated power (ISO) -- a far cry from the guy who slugged 37 home runs in 2017.
But Ozuna also has a potent 47.1% hard-hit rate, and that's finally starting to turn into some power. Since the start of June, Ozuna has posted a .478 wOBA with 3 dingers, doubling his season total. Maybe that's too small of a sample size, but he also holds a solid .368 expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA) for the season, and his average exit velocity is up from last year, suggesting perhaps that he ought to have better results than he's shown.
The St. Louis Cardinals get a good matchup against Jordan Lyles and are sporting a 4.79 implied team total. It's a good time to get on board with Ozuna while he's priced affordably, and he may go under-owned based on his modest season-long marks.
