In addition to having the day's best pitching option, Cleveland's 5.34 implied total is Monday's highest by a big margin as they take on White Sox righty Lucas Giolito.
Giolito has made 12 starts this season and is sporting an absolutely egregious 6.35 SIERA. His 13 Major League games before 2018 don't inspire any confidence in that area, either, having posted a 5.97 SIERA in 2016 and 4.49 clip in 2017.
He has especially heinous numbers against left-handed bats, getting throttled for a .409 wOBA on his way to a 7.56 xFIP in the split. For context, there are only five qualifying hitters with a wOBA north of that .409 mark on the season. Giolito's opponents as a whole have been producing at a higher clip than Aaron Judge.
The switch-hitting Jose Ramirez tends to do his best work against southpaws, but he's no slouch against righties. In 201 plate appearances in the split this season, he has tagged right-handed pitchers for a .441 wOBA and .357 ISO, and looking back to 2017 to expand the sample, he finished last season with a .397 wOBA and .272 ISO against righties. He should have no trouble with Giolito.
