It's been tough for Rougned Odor this year. After the 2016 and 2017 seasons in which he cleared the 30-homer plateau -- 33 and 30 -- he has hit just 1 bomb all season for the Rangers.
One homer in 173 plate appearances. That's hard to believe. He has a .309 slugging percentage, with an average (.217) and on-base percentage (.292) that is in line with his career numbers. He has a wRC+ of 61 this season, which is abysmal.
So why am I suggesting now might be a good time to buy? Well, it's small, but Odor has improved his walk rate this season, from a career 4.4% to 7.5%. He has four walks in his past four games and seven walks in June.
I'm not telling you to bet the farm on Odor, but he'd be a guy to target as a throw-in in any deals you may conduct over the next week or two. His power could return and provide a little boost in the middle infield if some of these plate discipline numbers continue to trend in the right direction.
