Chicago White Sox righty Dylan Covey turned in a terrible rookie campaign last year, struggling to the tune of a 5.64 SIERA. His 2018 has been a complete 180-degree move from that, but there's still plenty of room for worry about his prospects moving forward this year.
Through 6 Major League starts in 2018, his 3.31 xFIP is actually better than the 3.58 he posted over his 7 Triple-A starts. His strikeout rate is up almost 10 percentage points from last year, sitting at 22.2% despite a paltry 7.8% swinging-strike rate, a good indication that we could see his production drop off in that area.
Oddsmakers aren't high on him tonight, either, as the Cleveland Indians' 5.22 implied total is the day's highest mark.
Lonnie Chisenhall has made only 55 plate appearances against righties so far this year, but his .384 wOBA in that sample is excellent. If we expand our view to include 2017, giving us a 265 plate appearance sample, he still has a very solid .361 wOBA and .220 ISO on a 34.8% hard-hit rate against righties.
