When Shin-Soo Choo signed his free-agent contract with the Texas Rangers ahead of the 2014 season, it wasn't silly to worry that, by this time in his career, age 35, he'd have started to slip.
Apparently, that's not going to happen this year. After a double and a walk on Sunday, Choo has now reached base safely in 37 straight games. In that 37-game streak, Choo is batting .326/.469/.580 with 9 homers, 21 RBI, 25 runs scored, a wOBA of .447 and a wRC+ of 186.
Not many people realized that Choo had a pretty good season last year, too. He hit 22 bombs, scored 96 runs, had an on-base percentage of .357 and a wRC+ of 107. In fact, he's had a wRC+ over 100 in each of his four-plus seasons with Texas.
Choo isn't slowing down and, while he wouldn't be a buy-low target, could be a guy to look to acquire in a multi-player deal.
