The Boston Red Sox' 5.63 implied total is Tuesday's highest mark as they take on southpaw John Lamb and the Los Angeles Angels.
Lamb has shown promise through two Major League starts this season, but that's a tiny 8 1/3 inning sample, and we only have to look back to last year -- a 13-start season in Triple-A -- to find really worrying numbers, including a 5.32 xFIP. His encouraging 3.55 SIERA over his two 2018 MLB starts comes with some concerning contact numbers as well, including a 44.0% hard-hit rate and 44.0% fly-ball rate.
Being a southpaw also makes this spot especially rough for him, where he'll have to deal with J.D. Martinez.
Martinez has made 181 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers over the last two season, clobbering them for a 53.6% hard-hit rate, 10.0% soft-hit rate and 40.0% fly-ball rate. That has translated to a .459 wOBA and .362 isolated slugging (ISO), giving him a massive ceiling tonight.
