The San Francisco Giants aren't huge favorites tonight, with a -146 moneyline, but the Colorado Rockies' 3.43 implied total is still the lowest mark on Wednesday's main slate.
Madison Bumgarner has only made four starts in 2018, missing the beginning of the season with injury, but he seems to have put things together now. He had a shaky start to the year, but his last outing saw him deal eight scoreless, striking out eight while allowing only three hits.
It looks like he's got his form back, which is very promising when you look at his work in recent years, having posted a 3.94 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) in 2017, a 3.36 in 2016 and a 3.00 in 2015. He had strikeout rates north of 22.0% in each of those three seasons, while also posting double-digit swinging-strike rates in each.
The Rockies haven't been anything special against southpaws this year, ranking in the middle of the pack in both wRC+ and strikeout rate, and on a slate without any of the top fantasy studs at pitcher, that's enough to make Bumgarner the top arm.
