On Wednesday, the St. Louis Cardinals boast a solid 4.81 implied total as they take on southpaw Carlos Rodon and the Chicago White Sox.
Rodon has opened 2018 with an awful 4.98 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) over six games, which follows a 2017 campaign that saw him post a still-weak (albeit slightly better) 4.21 mark for the season.
Tommy Pham has produced well against southpaws this year, with a .349 wOBA on a 45.1% hard-hit and 13.7% soft-hit rate over 75 plate appearances. That success doesn't only show up over that small sample, though, and if we go back to include 2017, his wOBA jumps to .384 with a .206 isolated slugging (ISO) over 194 plate appearances. He shouldn't have much trouble with Rodon here.
