Given how good Gleyber Torres has been this year, it's easy to understand why Miguel Andujar has gone a bit overlooked. At some point, though, we've got to acknowledge just how awesome this guy has played.
In the section on Bregman, we talked about how desirable it is to find players who generate hard contact without striking out. Andujar has done that, though to a lesser extent, striking out 17.4% of the time while boasting a 36.3% hard-hit rate and 33.2% fly-ball rate. He has been even better since the start of June, with a 14.9% strikeout rate and 36.1% fly-ball rate. That's enough to beast out at Yankee Stadium, and it looks even better for a guy who just turned 23 in March.
Andujar has been involved in trade talks, meaning the Yankee Stadium side of the appeal is not guaranteed for the long-term. There are some warts to deal with, too, thanks to a low walk rate and a ground-ball rate that is higher than you'd ideally like. But there's a ton to love about what Andujar has done, and he hasn't generated enough discussion yet. That could change if he keeps this up in the second half, which the peripherals say is very possible.
