The Texas Rangers' 5.27 implied total is Monday's highest as they take on southpaw Brett Anderson of the Oakland Athletics.
Anderson has a 5.00 SIERA through six starts this year, and with a 4.84 SIERA in 2017 and 5.10 clip in 2016, there's not much room for optimism that things will turn around for the 30-year-old.
Joey Gallo isn't a consistent hitter, and a lefty-lefty matchup isn't a great one for him, but he still offers big upside with the Rangers' offense in such a great spot. His 277 career plate appearances against southpaws have seen him notch a 44.6% hard-hit rate, 16.5% soft-hit rate and 50.8% fly-ball rate, which has translated into a mediocre .322 wOBA but powerful .254 ISO.
With plenty of runs expected from the Rangers, Gallo's upside gets a boost from the fact that his power also gives him a good chance of racking up some big RBI numbers tonight. One thing to note -- Gallo was removed early Sunday with an ankle issue, so make sure he's in the lineup.
