FanDuel Price: $2,900
No one ever likes to roster hitter at AT&T Park, but this is a silly cheap price for a guy who cost $4,000 prior to a stint on the disabled list. After all, Eric Thames is putting up a healthy 48.4% hard-hit rate, 45.4% fly-ball rate, and .295 isolated power (ISO) against right-handed pitching. Even in a poor hitting venue, we have to like that kind of upside in this price range.
Dereck Rodriguez may have a 2.72 ERA, but he has a mere 18.9% strikeout rate and is allowing a 39.9% ground-ball rate and 41.4% hard-hit rate. He's experienced some good fortune through a 5.5% home-run-to-fly-ball rate, and his more modest 4.25 SIERA falls closer to how he's really performed.
On a night with a plethora of appealing hitting spots, it can't hurt to take chance on Thames' talent on the cheap in what could be a low-owned spot.
