J.D. Martinez continues to produce some of the best numbers among all hitters this season.
He's tied for first in home runs and sits 7 RBIs ahead of anyone else on the year. His .426 wOBA is also tied for third among qualifying hitters, while his .314 ISO is good for second.
Righty-righty matchups have been especially kind to him as he's turning a 47.8% hard-hit rate and 10.3% soft-hit rate into a .443 wOBA and .353 ISO in the split. That makes today's matchup against Philadelphia Phillies righty Jake Arrieta a good one.
Arrieta has a 4.43 SIERA over 20 games this season, which is on pace to be his worst mark since 2011. He has limited hard contact well, but that's one area we almost never need to worry about with Martinez.
Boston's 5.50 implied total is the slate's second-highest mark, and Martinez's upside remains elite in this one.
