Back to the Rangers' offense, Andrew Cashner has been especially bad against left-handed sticks in 2018. He's giving up a .356 wOBA on a 38.7% fly-ball rate, and Joey Gallo's power gives him a great chance to take advantage of that.
Among the 376 hitters with at least 50 batted balls against righties this year, Gallo ranks fifth in average exit velocity and fourth in average batted-ball distance. That heavy swing makes him highly inconsistent, striking out at a 33.2% clip, but it also leaves him boasting a .249 ISO.
Gallo is not a high-floor option, even against Cashner, but he does make for an appealing way to get elite upside without breaking the bank.
