It's rare to go after someone who has played as infrequently as J.R. Murphy has of late, but he has been so impressive when he has gotten a chance to hit, we should at least mention him, especially since he is at the minimum salary.
Among the 330 batters with at least 100 batted-ball events, Murphy ranks 50th in barrels per plate appearance. His rate is sandwiched between guys like Bryce Harper, Jose Ramirez, and Freddie Freeman.
How does he do it? With a ridiculous 50.4% fly-ball rate and 45.0% hard-hit rate, both of which are just obscenely high marks, especially for a catcher. Jake Arrieta and his 4.36 SIERA shouldn't scare you off Murphy, provided the Arizona Diamondbacks' catcher cracks the lineup.
