Carlos Rodon is standing on especially shaky legs against right-handed bats this year. Sure, the .276 wOBA he has allowed to them is an excellent mark, but that also comes with an especially worrying 5.14 xFIP and 47.6% fly-ball rate.
Erik Gonzalez has a career-best .339 wOBA over 106 plate appearances this season, which comes on a career-best 43.2% hard-hit rate. He has only made 89 plate appearances against southpaws in his career, but his hard-hit rate jumps to 45.1% in that split.
Priced all the way down at the minimum, numbers like that are more than promising enough to leave him offering big value against Rodon and his concerning numbers.
