The Los Angeles Angels have unveiled prospect David Fletcher to minimal fanfare this summer. Fletcher's first taste of the bigs has been understandably low key given his modest sixth-round pedigree, while his .254/.309/.350 triple slash across 176 plate appearances hasn't exactly jumped off the page.
Still, Fletcher has showed one quality that is rare for rookie hitters: a superb batting eye. Check out that 5.8% strikeout-minus-walk rate on just 4.5% swinging strikes. The 24-year-old's sharpened plate approach also came with some major power gains in the minors this year. That muscle has yet to manifest in the majors, but with a FanDuel salary near the minimum, Fletcher seems like an intriguing dart throw this week against beatable lefties like Clayton Richard, Mike Minor, and Martin Perez.
