In the Cleveland Indians rotation, it can be easy to get overshadowed by arms like Corey Kluber, Trevor Bauer, and Carlos Carrasco. But that's exactly what has happened to Mike Clevinger in 2018.
The righty has enjoyed a solid season, recording a 4.01 SIERA and 24.0% strikeout rate. He's posted those marks by limiting same-sided batters to only a .277 wOBA this season.
That makes Salvador Perez's challenge tonight even harder, as he has fared poorly in this split this year. Against righties, he's recorded just a .288 wOBA, and never the most patient hitter, he's walked only 2.1% of the time.
Perez can provide some solid upside against lefties, but tonight does not seem like a great time to roster the backstop.
