Luke Voit didn't start for the New York Yankees against a righty last night, but in a dreamy matchup with Detroit Tigers southpaw Francisco Liriano, he will likely be back in action today.
We only have a 54 plate appearances from Voit at the Major League level this season, but he has been raking, with a .393 wOBA and .245 ISO. He also produced big numbers at the Triple-A level, with a .392 wOBA and .201 ISO over 271 plate appearances.
Liriano is having the worst season of his career in almost every category. His 5.33 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) is a career-worst, as are his 17.9% strikeout and 13.4% walk rates, while his 32.9% hard-hit rate is the second-highest of his career.
Double-check that Voit is back in the lineup before you lock him in, but as long as he plays he offers elite upside for a player in this price range.
