Andrew Cashner is one of the worst starting pitchers on the slate. His 5.12 SIERA is the third-worst among starters in action tonight (better than only Hutchison and Gonsalves), and when you consider his 5.52 SIERA from 2017, there's not much room for optimism down the stretch.
He has been especially shaky against left-handed bats, allowing a .353 wOBA, and that opens the door for Ryan O'Hearn.
O'Hearn has only made 73 plate appearances this year for Kansas City, but he has an excellent .366 wOBA and .323 ISO on a 46.5% hard-hit and 41.9% fly-ball rate in that sample. We can expect his production to regress, as a ridiculous one-third of his fly-balls have turned into home runs, but his encouraging contact numbers are very promising in a strong matchup like this.
numberFire's models project O'Hearn as the second-best point-per-dollar value among today's hitters.
