When we talk about the Chicago White Sox in daily fantasy, it's usually from the lens of targeting a pitcher starting against them. But tonight we finally get some nice things to say about them, as they boast one of the slate's highest implied totals (4.98) against southpaw Francisco Liriano and the Detroit Tigers.
Liriano has been egregious in 2018, and he wasn't much better in 2017, either. The last two years have seen him post skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) marks of 5.09 (2017) and 5.34 (2018). His 17.5% strikeout rate is a career-low clip and is combined with a career-high 13.3% walk rate. He's also giving up the second-most hard contact (32.8%) of his career.
Matt Davidson has proven himself more than capable against left-handed pitching in 2018, with an excellent .4012 wOBA and .250 ISO on a 45.3% hard-hit rate, 10.9% soft-hit rate and 40.6% fly-ball rate.
In a matchup like this, those numbers would put him in play even if he was priced way above where he is tonight, and that makes him a tough fade at this price-point.
