For those looking to pay down at pitcher, Ryan Borucki's dirt cheap salary is an option, but we should tread lightly here.
In 2018, Borucki's 4.52 ERA seems not horrible, but his 14.0% strikeout rate and 6.8% swinging-strike rate leave a lot to be desired. He's also been dominated in the platoon split, as righties have bopped him for a .350 weighted on-base average (wOBA) and 37.9% fly-ball rate.
This all coincides with a Tampa Bay Rays offense that's white-hot at the dish. Over the last two weeks, they rank second in team wOBA with a .369 mark.
Saving on pitching is great when it works, but rostering Borucki today doesn't seem like a great idea.
