It looks like we're finally going to get Jacob deGrom's 29th start tonight. The Ace was set to pitch on both Sunday and Monday before weather issues took away those opportunities, but he's back in action on Tuesday, and gets a dreamy matchup against the Miami Marlins.
deGrom's numbers speak for themselves. Among all qualifying pitchers this season, his 2.90 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) ranks fifth, his 0.96 WHIP is tied for fourth, and his 25.6% strikeout-minus-walk rate is fifth. He ranks second among Tuesday's starting pitchers in each of those areas, behind only Chris Sale, who is only expected to throw two innings in his return from the disabled list.
Since the All-Star break, the Marlins rank 29th in wRC+ (71) against right-handed pitching, while also striking out at an above-average rate (22.7%) in that split. deGrom should have no trouble taking advantage of this matchup.
