Alex Bregman has been a monster for the Houston Astros this year, crushing to the tune of career-best marks in all of hard-hit rate (36.5%), soft-hit rate (17.3%) and fly-ball rate (43.6%). That has led to career-high clips in both wOBA (.402) and ISO (.254). Oh, and he's done all that while dropping his strikeout rate to 11.5% -- 4.0 percentage points lower than he has ever posted before.
Even in righty-righty matchups, he boasts a .399 wOBA and .251 ISO, putting him in a solid spot against Seattle Mariners righty Mike Leake.
Leake is on pace for a career-worst 4.35 SIERA through 29 games this year, and while that's not a terrible mark, it's also not strong enough that it should scare you off of a terrific bat like Bregman.
Leake's contact numbers leave a lot to be desired. He hasn't allowed as high a ratio of fly-balls as he is this year since 2013, and that's coming with a 36.3% hard-hit rate -- a career-high by a sizable margin. This leaves power hitters with plenty of fantasy upside against him.
