Rowdy Tellez has been absolutely mashing at the Major League level.
Over 53 plate appearances, he has an absurd .456 wOBA and .346 ISO. When you consider his pedestrian .341 wOBA at the Triple-A level, it's a safe bet that he's not going to continue to be this productive for long, but he's cheap enough to regress and still offer value.
He's making terrific contact, with a 41.0% hard-hit rate and 35.9% fly-ball rate, lending some more weight to the idea that he can keep producing at a solid clip.
Tonight he's up against the Houston Astros and right-hander Josh James, who has played in only four MLB games of his own. He has shown a lot of promise in those starts, as he did in his Triple-A work, but he's also looked vulnerable against left-handed bats, allowing a 16.1% walk rate and 43.8% hard-hit rate.
