Fantasy Baseball: 5 Top-Tier Hitters to Avoid
Christian Yelich won the National League MVP last year and is going in the first round in early drafts, but he could be due for some serious regression this season. Which other top picks should you consider passing on?

Adalberto Mondesi, SS, Kansas City Royals

NFBC ADP: 43rd

Positional Rank: 7

Draft Round (12-team league): 4th

Even with a top-flight option like Francisco Lindor potentially missing time to start the year, how should we value second-year man Adalberto Mondesi, who posted an absurd 14-homer, 32-steal combo in 291 plate appearances last year?

Tread with caution. While those are some bonkers statistics, don't ignore his previous production. Mondesi didn't crack 30 steals in any one professional season before, while still being a clear speedster.

And the power? That's the scariest and most fragile part of this combo. His .222 isolated power (ISO) mark was fantastic, but Mondesi's previous season best was 13 in Triple-A with the Royals, and he never cracked double-digits in any season prior to that.

A supremely talented player but tagged with a 26.5% strikeout rate a year ago, Mondesi makes for a very scary early round pick in 2019.
