It's not often we're going to be targeting Baltimore Orioles hitters this season, but it's also not often they'll have a matchup as good as tonight's against Marco Estrada.
Estrada is coming off a 2018 campaign in which he struggled to the tune of a career-worst 5.45 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA). This came after dropping marks of 4.64, 4.35 and 4.69 (his previous career worst) in the last three years. The kind of contact he allows is especially appealing in fantasy, having given up a fly-ball rate north of 50% in three of the last four seasons.
Dwight Smith has hit second in two of the last three games (including the only one of those games in which the O's faced a righty), so he already offers some nice value as someone with a favorable platoon split hitting high in the order for an offense with a solid 4.46-run implied total.
It's more than just his situation that puts Smith into play tonight, though. We have just a small 106-plate-appearance sample for him against righties, but in that time, he's turned in a .342 wOBA and .144 ISO. His .360 batting average on balls in play (BABIP) isn't sustainable, but with only a 13.0% soft-hit rate, he can prove to be a competent producer against righties even with some regression to his BABIP.
