Another matchup with a righty means that we should see Brandon Nimmo batting leadoff again tonight.
While the New York Mets' middling 4.25-run implied total that doesn't give him the huge boost it might in a better spot, he's still positioned for plenty of plate appearances, and he's in a good spot to be part of any scoring the Mets do against righty Kevin Gausman and the Atlanta Braves' bullpen.
Gasuman showed some improvement between 2017 and 2018, but his 4.28 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) still wasn't especially intimidating, especially while he allowed his highest hard-hit rate (34.7%) since 2013.
He looked great in his first start of 2019, but that's a one-game sample and came against the Miami Marlins, who have scored the second-fewest runs in the majors to start the year, so it's not worth putting too much weight into.
Nimmo has crushed right-handed pitching over the last two seasons, with a .377 wOBA and .193 ISO in 2017 and .407 wOBA and .246 ISO in 2018, so he should be able to take full advantage of his position in the batting order tonight.
