C.J. Cron is another guy struggling (.269 wOBA) but also suffering from a low BABIP (.259) to start 2019.
His 32.1% hard-hit rate is down, but that's over a tiny sample of 38 plate appearances. Considering he has notched hard-hit rates of at least 35.0% in each of the last two seasons, there's nothing to be too concerned about quite yet.
Cron does his best work against southpaws, but he still shows plenty of power in same-sided matchups. He made 358 plate appearances against righties last year, posting a passable .328 wOBA with a hefty .236 ISO on a 38.7% hard-hit rate and 37.9% fly-ball rate.
Toronto Blue Jays righty Matt Shoemaker hasn't forced a hard-hit rate below 36.2% since 2016, and he leaves plenty of room for Cron to flash some of his power tonight.
Our models project Cron as the top point-per-dollar value among today's hitters.
