5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 4/17/19
Justin Bour, 1B, Los Angeles Angels
Price: $2,700
Another first baseman with some pop to target, Justin Bour has struggled to the tune of a .298 wOBA to start the season, but a weak 53 plate appearances aren't too worrying, especially when he's only got a .241 batting average on balls in play (BABIP), compared to his .294 career-average.
He's making a bit less hard contact than we're used to, but a 33.3% hard-hit rate still isn't terrible, and that still comes with a 36.7% fly-ball rate. We can also expect his contact to bounce back significantly against right-handed pitching. He only has a 25.0% hard-hit rate in that split, after posting marks of 40.0% or higher in each of the last two seasons, which translated to a .384 wOBA and .252 ISO in 2017 and .349 wOBA and .221 ISO in 2018.
As an added bonus, he's up against Lance Lynn, who has posted an xFIP of 5.10 or worse against left-handed bats in each of the last three seasons.
