Jose Abreu may not have the platoon advantage tonight, but that doesn't matter too much. The righty owns a career .361 wOBA and .215 ISO on a 35.4% hard-hit rate against same-sided arms.
The Chicago White Sox offense exploded for 12 runs on Monday (5 of which were driven in by Abreu), and they're well-positioned to keep rolling tonight with a big 5.22-run implied total against righty Andrew Cashner and the Baltimore Orioles.
Cashner has been awful in recent seasons, with a 5.52 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) in 2017 and a 5.33 in 2018. In 2019 his walk rate is up to 10.9% (his worst since 2010) and his strikeout rate is down to 13.6%, and he's only got a 5.60 SIERA through five games.
Since the start of the 2017 season even same-sided bats have cracked him for a .339 wOBA and 4.78 xFIP, and Abreu makes a strong way to get cheap exposure to big upside in the White Sox lineup.
