3 MLB FanDuel Studs to Target on 4/30/19

J.D. Martinez, OF, Boston Red Sox

Price: $4,000

J.D. Martinez missed two games with back spasms over the weekend, but he was back in action on Monday, so there's no need to be too concerned about his status for tonight.

Owner of a hard-hit rate north of 40% in each of the last five seasons, Martinez is making some of the best contact of his career in 2019, with a 45.0% hard-hit rate, 41.3% fly-ball rate and only a 7.5% soft-hit rate.

His .390 wOBA is a solid mark, but with wOBA's of .430 and .427 in the last two seasons, we can probably expect it to climb moving forward thanks to the terrific contact he's making. In the same vein, we can certainly expect his .178 ISO to increase in a big way -- he hasn't finished with an ISO below .238 since 2013, and the last two seasons have seen him post ISO's of .387 and .299.

Tonight's matchup shouldn't slow him down any as Oakland Athletics righty Aaron Brooks owns a 4.49 SIERA through five starts this year -- a clip that is right in line with his career average of 4.55.

As -162 moneyline favorites in a game with a 9.5-run over/under on FanDuel Sportsbook, Boston's offense should have no trouble with Brooks, upping the potential for runs and RBI for Martinez.
