In a year where many shortstops are below average in clutch - just nine of 24 qualified shortstops have positive clutch ratings - Ian Desmond rises to the top. While Desmond is just batting .246/.299/.421 with a .318 wOBA overall, in high-leverage situations, he's hitting .300/.377/.540 with five home runs and 32 runs batted in. With runners in scoring position, Desmond is batting .282/.355/.435, and even with men on, Desmond starts to hit better, with a .266/.325/.444 split, an increase from his overall average by 20 points.
