The 10 Best Strikeout Relievers in Major League Baseball
While some of the best strikeout relievers in baseball are obvious, others may surprise you.

Ken Giles, Philadelphia Phillies

There's a reason the Phillies have been trying to unload Jonathan Papelbon this year, and why that effort will continue this off-season.

Actually there are a couple reasons, including the closer's salary and some perceived personality issues. However, a big reason why the Phils are ready to move on is the emergence of Ken Giles, their own 100-mph man. While he's only pitched 38.2 innings this year, he's already put up a nERD of 0.95 and his 1.6 rWAR is better than four other relievers on this list.

Giles has a K% of 39.7% in his short season this year, thanks to a fastball that has averaged 97.1 miles an hour, according to FanGraphs, and a slider that has been virtually unhittable. He's reminiscent of a certain Atlanta reliever who has yet to appear on this list.

Philadelphia has their closer of the future, and that future could be now if they can unload their current one.
