5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Studs to Target on 5/23/16
Clayton Kershaw has been dominant in 2016. Who else should you target?

Johnny Cueto, P, San Francisco Giants

FanDuel Price: $11,800

So after reading about Clayton Kershaw, no one will look great in comparison. However, Johnny Cueto has been excellent thus far in his first season with the Giants. Already with a 6-1 record, Cueto has posted a 3.00 xFIP and a 8.24 strikeouts per nine innings with only 12 walks in 66 innings.

When paying this much for a pitcher, we need both consistency and upside. Cueto has been consistent so far in 2016 -- he’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in seven of his nine starts while also pitching seven-plus innings in all but one game.

As for the upside, he’s shown the ability to rack up strikeouts, totaling eight-plus punch-outs in five of his nine starts this year.

Tonight he faces the Padres, one of the best matchups for right-handed pitchers. San Diego has struck out 25 percent of the time while mustering just a .123 ISO and .269 wOBA against righties.

As a -175 favorite tonight, Cueto is the second-best option on the board behind Kershaw.
