FanDuel Price: $2,900
On a short slate, we're forced to target pitchers who are actually pretty good. That's what we have as Aledmys Diaz goes up against the Washington Nationals' Joe Ross. Even though Ross is a quality hurler, there's reason to believe Diaz could still put forth a solid night.
Diaz's best asset is his complete and utter contempt for strikeouts. He has only struck out in 9.6% of his big-league plate appearances so far, meaning he's going to put balls in play. Every time a ball goes in play, there's a shot something good will come of it for DFS. Ross has been getting better recently, but his strikeout rate for the year is still only 18.9%. We can assume Diaz is going to put a few balls in play if he's batting second, and his 36.2% hard-hit rate indicates those balls will end with quality results.
Diaz has seen his price decline recently thanks to a 1-for-21 stretch over the past five games. Still, for the month of May, he has only struck out 13.2% of the time. It's not a matchup we'll want to target often, but Diaz can have a nice night even if his opponent is a good one.
