So far this year, Paul Goldschmidt has struggled versus left-handed pitching. In 55 plate appearances, he’s recorded just two extra base hits and a meager .125 ISO. But when you look at the bigger sample size in 2015, Goldschmidt was one of the best lefty-mashers in the game, when he posted a .256 ISO and .455 wOBA.

Tonight he’ll face Christian Friedrich, who has been unable to contain righties so far in his career. In the big leagues, Friedrich has allowed a .196 ISO and .387 wOBA to opposing right-handed hitters.

Playing at home tonight, Goldschmidt also has the benefit of hitting in near-90 degree weather with the lowest Air Density Index of any game outside of Colorado. And even considering those Coors options, Goldschmidt is the best play on the board.
