FanDuel Price: $3,800
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Bryce Harper has been struggling for some time now and has fallen off of most daily fantasy players' radar, with them instead fixating on the Boston bats. Well, with the added attention that is sure to go to the Coors game tonight, it seems likely that Harper finds himself underowned once again.
Why You Should Use Him:
We went with Harper last night and he delivered with a home run, so we're going back to the well tonight against another right-hander -- especially since his price tag dropped another $200.
Harper and the Nationals will face Jaime Garcia, who has struggled after a hot start to the year. Garcia didn't make it out of the third inning in his most recent start, giving up 10 hits and 5 runs to the Diamondbacks. That start raised his ERA to 4.13 over his past six starts.
Garcia has posted pretty even splits in his career, with slightly worse numbers against left-handers. Speaking of left-handers, Mr. Harper just happens to bat left-handed, and his splits are far from even. Check out his ridiculous splits from last year to get an idea of the damage he can do against righties at Nationals Park.
Bryce Harper | wOBA | SLG% | ISO |
---|---|---|---|
vs L | 0.421 | 0.552 | 0.234 |
Home vs R | 0.487 | 0.702 | 0.370 |
While Garcia has struggled recently, he is still a respectable pitcher. The chance that he is able to limit the damage against Washington is high enough that Harper isn't a must-play in cash formats. However, he makes for a very intriguing tournament play -- especially at his depressed price tag.
