Kendrys Morales is in a terrific spot tonight against right-hander Mike Wright in the lefty-friendly Camden Yards.
Morales, a switch-hitter, has shown over his career to be more comfortable hitting as a lefty, owning a career .344 wOBA and .203 ISO against right-handed pitching, with a 36.1 percent fly ball rate and 34.4 percent hard-hit rate. His production is down to start this season, but his .211 BABIP is so far below his career average of .296 while his 15.0 percent soft-hit and 34.6 percent hard-hit rates are much more in line with them that we can expect his numbers to trend upwards.
While he has shown improvements from his 2015 rookie campaign, Mike Wright is still sporting a 5.88 ERA and 4.61 SIERA on the year, while allowing a huge .433 wOBA to lefties. The Royals have one of the higher implied totals on this slate, and Morales is in a great position to give Wright a hard time.
