Mike Trout playing at Yankee Stadium is unfair.
Trout and the Angels will take on New York Yankees’ right-hander Ivan Nova tonight. While Nova has limited free passes this season, posting a stellar 3.9% walk rate, he’s not getting many swings and misses. Nova owns a 16.1% strikeout rate, and that spells trouble any time he’s pitching at homer-happy Yankee Stadium, which ranks second in home run factor.
The Angels are bad, but Trout is still very, very good. He’s obliterating right-handers to the tune of a .419 wOBA, and he owns a .401 wOBA on the road this year. Trout went 3-for-5 with a bomb, double, 2 runs and 2 RBI on Wednesday. With a projected point total of 15.17, he is our second-ranked bat for the slate.
