FanDuel Price: $9,700
Drew Pomeranz has put up some crazy-good strikeout numbers this year, but he’s struggled with walks. A matchup with the Miami Marlins could be just what the doctor ordered. While the Marlins have a solid offense (14th in wOBA), they like to put the ball in play, ranking 24th in walk rate (7.4%).
Pomeranz owns a 3.70 SIERA, just a touch better than his 3.73 SIERA from 2015, but he’s sporting a 28.9% strikeout rate and 11.5% swinging-strike rate, both of which are career-best clips.
In his first year in San Diego, Pomeranz has unsurprisingly taken a liking to pitcher-friendly Petco Park, which is where tonight’s game will take place. It’s a small sample size, but in 29 2/3 innings at home, Pomeranz has held hitters to a .224 wOBA.
Pomeranz is our second-ranked pitcher for Tuesday. While he may not have the through-the-roof upside of Bumgarner, his cheaper price tag ($9,700) will allow you to load up on some big bats.
