FanDuel Price: $4,000
After refusing his qualifying offer from the Washington Nationals, Ian Desmond didn’t find the market he was hoping for, eventually settling for a one-year, $8 million deal with the Texas Rangers. Texas, with an already loaded infield, seemed like an odd landing spot, but, man, has it worked out well.
Desmond is flat-out raking. He owns a .355 wOBA with 9 bombs and 12 steals. The early returns on his outfield defense have been good, too. With 2.6 Wins Above Replacement (fWAR), he’s been the Rangers’ best player.
He has a mouth-watering matchup tonight against Oakland Athletics southpaw Eric Surkamp. Desmond has always hit left-handed pitching well, boasting a .341 career wOBA versus lefties, but he’s done them dirty in 2016. In 78 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers this year, Desmond has put up a .413 wOBA with 4 bombs.
