5 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 6/17/16
Today's slate has several excellent pitching options, which will leave Lance McCullers overlooked in an enticing matchup. Who else will fly under-the-radar tonight?

Paul Goldschmidt, 1B, Arizona Diamondbacks

FanDuel Price: $4,500

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

Edwin Encarnacion is absolutely raking and has another appealing matchup. People will do everything they can to get him in their lineups tonight. After him, I'd expect David Ortiz to be the next most popular option with Boston projected for 4.9 runs tonight. With two other excellent ways to pay up at first base, it seems unlikely that many people will go with Paul Goldschmidt tonight, leaving him as an excellent underowned tournament option.

Why You Should Use Him:

Goldschmidt has had a quiet season by his standards, but his 12.5 FanDuel points per game is nothing to sneeze at. He has been seeing the ball particularly well recently, hitting safely in 10 straight games.

While he may not be as flashy of a play as Encarnacion or Ortiz today, Goldschmidt's matchup against lefty Adam Morgan offers him just as much upside. Morgan's ERA on the season sits at 6.33, while his career ERA is 5.16. Vegas doesn't see things getting any better for him tonight, projecting the Diamondbacks for 4.5 runs against him, which is the fifth-highest mark on the slate.

Goldschmidt has demolished left-handed pitching throughout his career, posting an impressive .432 wOBA, .597 slugging percentage, and 46.2 percent hard-hit rate against lefties. It's kind of scary to imagine what he can do to the struggling Morgan.

Goldschmidt is a terrific play tonight and is viable in all formats if you feel comfortable fading Encarnacion.
