Even in what is a down year by his standards, Giancarlo Stanton is putting up some strong numbers, batting .241/.334/.495 with a .351 wOBA and .254 ISO.
He is absolutely crushing left-handed pitching. Against southpaws, he has only a 9.1% soft-hit rate and an absurd 59.1% hard-hit rate to go with his .412 wOBA and .353 ISO.
With numbers like that, it almost doesn't matter who is pitching when Stanton's salary gets this low, and while Steven Matz hasn't been a pushover through his first two years in the big leagues, he is allowing a 33.6% hard-hit rate to right-handed hitters this year, and Stanton is a guy who can blow up against any lefty.
