Edinson Volquez has, unsurprisingly, struggled on the mound this year. His 4.46 SIERA is just above his career average of 4.30, while he hasn't finished a season with a SIERA better than 4.20 since 2010.

He has always had a harder time with left-handed hitters over his career, pitching to a 4.43 xFIP against southpaws and making this matchup especially appealing for Kevin Kiermaier.

Kiermaier's overall numbers aren't great, but he has hit right-handed fairly pitching well over his young career, slashing .264/.319/.454 with a .333 wOBA and .190 ISO. Against the struggling Volquez, he offers solid value tonight.
