Not only does Thursday present us with a lighter slate, but it's also a pretty "blah" buffet of pitching options. After Drew Pomeranz, who is our top-ranked hurler, things get dicey, which makes Pomeranz a very attractive play in cash games.

The Red Sox' lefty hits the road for a matchup with the Seattle Mariners. Safeco Field ranks 26th in park factor, and Seattle's implied total of 3.92 runs is the lowest of the slate.

Pomeranz has an ugly 7.43 ERA in three starts with Boston, but it's not at all indicative of how he's pitched. His SIERA over those three outings is 4.18, and he's posting a 23.1% strikeout rate. For the year, he's sporting a 3.73 SIERA and a 27.3% strikeout rate, which is backed up by an 11.2% swinging-strike rate and gives him big-time upside whenever he takes the bump.

Seattle has a good offense, putting up a .328 wOBA, but that wOBA drops to .316 against southpaws. Seattle has the sixth-highest strikeout rate (23.7%) over the last 30 days, which puts them in a tough spot tonight against a pitcher with Pomeranz's swing-and-miss stuff.
