4 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 8/9/16
There are several good options at first base tonight, which should leave Joey Votto overlooked. Who are some other contrarian plays?

Joey Votto, 1B, Cincinnati Reds

FanDuel Price: $3,800

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

Anthony Rizzo, Edwin Encarnacion, and David Ortiz are all flashier names with higher implied team totals tonight than Joey Votto and the Reds, who are projected for just 3.8 runs against Mike Leake. As a result, Votto is a candidate to fly under the radar tonight.

Why You Should Use Him:

Over the past month, no hitter has a higher wOBA than -- you guessed it -- Votto. He boasts an absurd .503 wOBA over that span, and actually ranks 13th in wOBA on the season, even after a terribly slow start. Votto also ranks seventh with a 41.5 percent hard-hit rate, a number that has jumped to 44 percent against righties.

Tonight, Votto will take on righty Mike Leake, who has his season ERA up to 4.80 after giving up 20 combined runs over his past three starts. Leake has also posted worse numbers against lefties in his career.

It's hard to ignore the low implied team total for Cincy in cash games, but he is a terrific play in tournaments where he'll have a lower price and ownership than the previously named first basemen.
