Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks. With the split slates, we'll be focusing exclusively on the main slate starting at 7 pm Eastern. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.
Los Angeles Dodgers
As you saw last night when the Los Angeles Dodgers unleashed a 15-run outburst on the Philadelphia Phillies, good things happen when you get these saucy individuals out of Dodger Stadium. That big performance will probably make them a popular stack tonight, but it's for a good reason.
Given how he performed in the minors after joining the Phillies' organization, it's easy to see why the team is high on Jake Thompson. His ERA in 30 starts was 2.17, so his long-term outlook should be optimistic. Right now, though, he's still struggling as a 22-year-old pitcher, and we should absolutely stack against him. He had a 16.8% strikeout rate in Triple-A this year, dropping to 15.9% in 9 1/3 innings in the majors. With how well the Dodgers have been hitting the past few months, those early struggles could continue tonight.
You've probably caught onto this by now, but Yasmani Grandal is stupidly good at this baseball thing.
He's third in the league in hard-hit rate since the All-Star break, and even when we expand the sample size, he's at 44.1% since June 1st. He's not going underowned on this slate, but at $3,100 on FanDuel, we can stomach that to get his supreme Gucciness on our team.
