Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks. As always, we will not be including today's game at Coors Field here. Coors is great for DFS, but you likely don't need me to tell you that. Here are the other teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.
Detroit Tigers
There's a game at Coors Field today, but for once, the highest implied team total on the slate does not reside there. Instead, the Detroit Tigers claim that crown as they face Anthony Ranaudo. We may want to take that into account.
Ranaudo is up to 74 1/3 career big-league innings, which is a decent sample size. Even with that, he has still walked more batters than he has struck out, giving him a 5.90 SIERA over that span. His 5.4% swinging-strike rate and 35.3% hard-hit rate both illustrate the sustainability of those struggles, and that's not something you want to bring into a matchup with the Tigers.
If Cameron Maybin can't go tonight due to a left-thumb contusion, that would open up a slot for Tyler Collins. You're going to want a piece of that bidness.

Collins has been making the most of his second stint with the Tigers this year, flashing a 34.7% hard-hit rate and 40.8% fly-ball rate versus right-handed pitchers in 75 plate appearances. He's almost min-price on both FanDuel and DraftKings, so lock him up and load him in if he gets the start.
