4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 9/8/16
On a slate lacking high-upside offenses, the Washington Nationals receive some solid love from Vegas. Which other teams should we target in MLB DFS?

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.

Now, let's get to the stacks. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

Washington Nationals

In terms of stacking, things don't get much more rough than they are today. The highest over/under on the slate is 8.5, and not a single team has an implied team total above 5. Thankfully, though, the Washington Nationals shine through like a beacon of hope, nearly tickling that mark with a total of 4.94, and we should reward them for their kindness by slobbering all over their offense today.

The reason Vegas has some optimism about the Nationals is they are squaring off with Alec Asher, who is making his season debut for the Philadelphia Phillies. Asher started his season at Triple-A before a performance-enhancing drug violation spanked him with an 80-game suspension, keeping him out of commission until he started his rehab stint on August 23rd. Asher's pre-suspension numbers were dope, but even then, he lacked the strikeout rate necessary to be a quality starting pitcher in the big leagues. Now, after an 80-game layoff, it seems unlikely that he'd magically inherit such a trait.

We do want to prefer left-handed batters against Asher, but unless Clint Robinson gets the start, all of the lefties here have lofty prices. We can instead, then, take a peep at a guy who has started to swing a hot stick, and that's Ryan Zimmerman.

In 61 plate appearances since coming off the disabled list, Zimmerman's hard-hit rate and fly-ball rate are both at 37.2%. He'll hit a bit deep in the order, but he can provide you with some differentiation in what should be a fairly chalky stack tonight.
